Mary “Kat” Staggs began writing poetry at a young age with the dream of someday becoming a songwriter. Life took her through years of family, work, responsibility, loss, love, and hard-earned perspective before she returned fully to writing — bringing those experiences with her.

Today, Mary operates KatsKom Music Publishing from Oklahoma and continues building a growing catalog of original songs. Her writing begins with story, conflict, emotion, or a strong hook, then develops with artist fit, audience, and commercial potential in mind. Her work is rooted in lyrical storytelling rather than chasing a single genre or sound.
